All Chequed Out

Another criminal who made a particularly bad choice of writing material turned up at an exclusive London restaurant. The waitress was most taken aback when, after enjoying a three course meal, the man paid his bill with a cheque which had a message written on the back: 'I am armed, and will shoot unless you bring me all the money in the till'. The waitress did as instructed, and the man left, apparently believing that his hold-up had been a success.

Of course, as soon as he had gone the waitress called the police and supplied them with all his bank details. With this information the police had no problem arresting the man and recovering all the money - in addition, the restaurant cashed the hefty cheque covering the price of the meal and a generous tip for the waitress.
