Trusting Thieves
Three would-be bank robbers spent all Sunday night waiting patiently in a
London bank after attacking a cleaner and forcing their way inside. When the cashier
arrived in the morning, they leapt on her and ordered her to open up the vault.
She told them she could not open it by herself - it needed two employees to unlock
it - but that she had seen the bank manager having a cigarette outside. She helpfully
volunteered to go and fetch him if they would let her go for a minute. The trio
trustingly agreed to this, and let her out, whereupon she went straight to a phone
box to summon the police. The trio were still patiently waiting for the cashier's
return when the police burst in to arrest them.
