Classy Thieves
A man in Mexico was distraught when the expensive car he had bought just a
week earlier was stolen from outside his house. Later that same day, he received
a telephone call from an anonymous man demanding eight thousand dollars for the
return of the car. The man reluctantly paid the ransom and the next day he woke
up to find his car, in perfect condition, parked outside his house. There was
a polite note tucked under the windscreen wipers thanking him for the money and
assuring him that his car was now 'insured' against theft for the next year. However,
a couple of weeks later, the man woke up and found that his car had again gone
missing. Once again, that afternoon, the man received the call asking for the
eight thousand dollars ransom money, whereupon the man complained that his car
had supposedly been insured against theft. The anonymous caller quickly hung up.
The next day, when the man looked outside his front door it was to see his car
parked outside. There was a bottle of champagne inside along with a note of apology.
