Just You Try And Catch Me
In a textbook example of pride going before a fall, it was the ego of the
perpetrator of a successful series of bank robberies that managed to land him
in prison. After watching countless news stories reporting how baffled the police
were by the identity of the robber, he called a local police station to brag that
they would never catch him. He went on at some length about his finely developed
criminal skills, and his experience in evading detection. His boasts were somewhat
undermined, however, by the fact that he forgot to block his number, which the
police were easily able to trace and use to track him down. When they caught up
with him a few hours later, he was on the telephone to another police station,
making yet more proud boasts!
