Partner In Crime

Two men who had just been convicted for an attempted armed robbery were being transported together to a prison in another district. Their legs were chained together to ensure that neither one could escape. Halfway through the journey, the van pulled over at a service station and the pair were allowed out to use the bathroom. In a pre-planned move, both the criminals made a sudden dash for freedom together, taking the guards momentarily by surprise. They had got barely fifty yards from the van, however, before they tried to go in different directions. The chain that tied them to each other got caught on a lamp post. Each frantically trying to break free by altering their direction, they succeeded only in wrapping the chain several times round the post. The only problem the guards experienced when recapturing the felons was Slaving to untangle them from each other and from the lamp post!
