Woman locked out of flat sleeps in corridor for weeks
Wednesday, January 2, 2002
A Singapore woman has been sleeping in a corridor for weeks after getting locked out of her flat.
Lee Peh Lee is sleeping just outside the door of her rented flat after coming home to find it locked.
Her husband is abroad working for several weeks.
She fears if she asks a locksmith to break the padlock she will get into trouble with her landlord.
The 44-year-old security officer is quoted in the Straits Times, as saying: "I've never disturbed anyone by sleeping here. This is my home, and my important documents are locked inside."
She claims the landlord, who she doesn't know how to contact, had stopped coming to collect the rent several months ago.
