Mayor bans taking snakes for 'walks'
Monday, November 12, 2001
A mayor in northern Italy is issuing orders forbidding people to have snakes on leads in city parks.
He says the trend is growing and could become dangerous.
Snake owners breaking the rule face a £15 fine.
Marco Molgora, Mayor of Osnago, is also banning couples from kissing each other for too long in the park and engaging in other "too evident" loving acts.
He says: "The fashion of owning and walking snakes is mounting, and that could become dangerous."
He adds acts such as amorous kissing will be punished for being "not admissible in the modern society", reports Avvenire newspaper.
