Cat lovers erect electric fence to protect pet

A Dutch couple have erected an electric fence round their house to stop their pet cat straying.

It receives an electric shock every time it tries to leave the garden in Neede.

They decided to set up the system after their previous cat was killed by a car.

But De Telegraaf reports their new cat Mizam managed to escape when the fence was unplugged for repair work. She eventually returned three weeks later.

Owners Marian and Wim Bakker have given the cat a collar which reacts to the fence.
