Drunken skater fails police alcohol test
Tuesday, October 23, 2001
Austrian police have stopped a skater with an alcohol level almost five times higher than the limit for driving.
The 33-year-old had his leg in plaster from a previous skating accident.
He had to undo his blades and was taken home by police in Bruck.
He is facing a fine running into hundreds of pounds.
Skaters on Austria's roads can also face the loss of their driving licences for being over the limit.
Tests showed the man from the Salzburg region had alcohol in his blood estimated to equate to drinking about 10 pints of beer.
