Stop attracting crows with discarded dead pets

Egyptian officials want people to stop throwing dead pets in the street because they're attracting aggressive crows.

Authorities in Suez City say the birds are attacking people.

Officials have started shooting them.

Vet Gamal el-Sayed Chahine says: "We organised five hit teams, but on the first day we only killed 30 birds because thousands of them attacked us. The next day, these cunning birds recognised our cars and told each other. We were attacked by huge swarms and we didn't have a chance."

He adds: "A farmer was attacked by hundreds of birds after he killed one of them with an axe. We need real co-operation from the people of Suez. Everyone must stop throwing their garbage and dead pets into the street."

Civil servant Zaynab al-Sayed told the Al Wafd newspaper: "Sometimes they attack little children playing in public parks, brazenly snatching the sandwiches and sweets from their hands.

"You never see any nightingales or other melodious birds here any more, only these big, black, ugly crows."
